Middle School Youth Ministry

180 degrees is our ministry including 4th through 8th grade students.  Our hope for the five years we have these students in our ministry is that they learn lessons that will influence their journey through life and that they are better trained and equipped followers of Jesus.

We understand it is challenging to be a student in middle school, and, even more so, a Christian.  Two-thousand years ago, St. Paul’s faith was questioned.  He was ridiculed and even persecuted because he believed in Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  In many of the same ways, we, Christians, are being persecuted because of our faith today.  180 degrees will:
  • study the Word to see the truths of God in all areas of life;
  • identify ways in which the Christian faith is being challenged by our society;
  • learn to defend the faith against the attacks of society.
Seventh and eighth grade confirmation students receive additional instruction though curriculum, the pastor, and most importantly, their parents.  We believe bringing up children, students, in a relationship with Christ begins at home.  Throughout the week, the student and parents work together asking tough questions and finding Godly answers.  His Word reminds us that the Lord offers strength when we are weak; forgiveness when we have sinned; love when we are lonely; is a friend when we are afraid; and provides guidance for our life here on earth.
